The SurfCo Hawaii Tail Guard Kit is a peel-stick tail protector that adheres easily, shields your board from damage, and does not affect hydrodynamics.

The most vulnerable parts of a surfboard are the nose and the tail. Tail protection is often underestimated – yet this part is frequently exposed to cracks and dings. Conventional protectors are usually too thick, which negatively impacts performance. Not this one from SurfCo Hawaii. We love it because it fits flush with the bottom edge of the board, so it doesn’t disrupt water flow or alter board performance.

We also appreciate its versatility: it fits all board shapes, from squash and round to pin, diamond, and swallow. If you ride a fish, you can simply cut the guard in half and apply it to both tail tips (see our photo with the Rivver board).

Installation guide

1. Surface preparation: The tail must be completely clean – remove wax, dust, sand, and grease. Use the included cleaning wipe.

2. Primer: Open the 3M Primer 94 sachet, apply evenly to the tail area, and let dry for 2–3 minutes.

3. Application: Peel off the protective backing. Align the center cutout or logo with the board’s stringer.

4. Adhesion: Press firmly from the center outward, smoothing out any bubbles.

5. Finish: After applying the tail guard, keep the board out of the water for several hours – ideally 12–24 hours – to allow the adhesive to fully cure.
