When surfing, you need to have a good grip between your feet and the board. You can wax your board, but the wax runs, gets dirty, gets messy, and you have to re-wax it before every session. Wax is old school, but it's probably not going to be a perfect replacement for it due to its stickiness. However, if you don't want to worry, it's worth investing in a pad. RSPro offers a cork front pad. Cork is super light and in combination with water is non-slip. It is also durable, does not absorb water, protects the board from impacts, looks great and you probably can't think of anything more sustainable. The pad consists of four pieces of 1mm thick sheets. They are extra sticky and if you stick them to the new board's fin, you can hardly remove them without chemicals. This means that they are applied to a completely clean and degreased surface.
