The tail takes a beating — every hit against the wall, kicker or just carrying the board around. SurfCo Hawaii Tail Guard is a classic American protection that's been going on boards for decades. Flexible, thin, sits flush against the rail and doesn't affect how the board rides.

Fits all shapes — squash, round, pin, swallow and fish. On a fish just cut the guard in half and stick each piece on separately.

Note: the transparent version looks red in the photos — that's just the adhesive backing showing through. Once applied it's clear.

Dimensions

Length 28 cm, height 1.2 cm at center tapering to 1 cm at the ends. Side notches are 11.4 cm apart for accurate placement on different tail shapes.

How to install

  1. Prep: Remove wax, dust and grease. Use the included cleaning cloth.
  2. Primer: Apply 3M Primer 94 to the tail and let it dry for 2–3 minutes.
  3. Apply: Peel the backing, align the center notch with the stringer. Press from center outward.
  4. Cure: Keep out of the water for 12–24 hours.
